This is the thread in which you make your sacred oath to paint some models!
What are the objectives of the Oath League?
1. Have fun and get your models painted!
2. HAVE FUN and GET YOUR MODELS PAINTED!!!
3. Win free stuff!?
The basic premise of this league is that every month, you declare one or more unpainted models that you will fully paint by the end of the month. Just this basic level of participation is enough to earn you points and the potential for free swag!
How to make an Oath
1. Procure at least ONE unpainted or simply primed model from the Iron Kingdoms, Hordes or Warmachine lines of miniatures.
2. Take a picture of said model(s) in front of a smartphone or computer screen that clearly shows the current date and time using this website and only this website: www.worldtimeserver.com/index.aspx
If you fail to do this part, your oath will not be eligible until you do so!
3. Post the picture, along with bolded text in some form of "I, (username) oath/vow/swear to paint the following in (current month): )(List the model(s) that you intend to paint, and that are clearly featured in the picture you post)
4. Don't start painting until Doctor Clockwork, CheatyFace or pszito quote your oath and "accept" it!
5. Once accepted, paint away!
Here is an example of a correct Oath post:
I, Doctor Clockwork do hereby swear to paint the following in January: Titan Bronzeback
The model is clearly visible, as are the date and time and location of the poster.
Oaths must be made before the last week of the month! In other words, 7 days from the last day of the month, cutoff at midnight EST. You must post an Oath complete! post by midnight on the final day of the month in order to earn points. An Oath complete! post merely has to contain those words in bold, followed by one or more pictures of your fully painted models.
Fully painted is a "reasonable diversity of colors", as defined by Privateer Press. So your model's boots, hair and sword should be different colors! At the end of the day, you only need to paint a single model to get the bare minimum for prizes so make it a nice addition to your table.
Oh no it's 2AM on the 1st and I didn't get my oath completed in time
That's okay, you have a chance for REDEMPTION. Anyone who fails to complete an oath may post their fully painted oath failed models at any time during the year, with the bold REDEMPTION in the post. You will not earn oath points for this, but it will enter you into a special Penitents prize at the end of the year!
That's right, even dirty oathbreakers can win prizes!
What's this about free stuff!??!!?
You heard it right, you could win swag just for painting models!
You are awarded the following points for an Oath, as long as you meet these criteria:
(1 point) Oath post with picture proof (You get a point just for oathing!)
(1 point) Base your model (minimum is sand or flock)
(5 points) Completed oath picture posted before end of the month
(1 point) Completed oath picture has the painter's username in it
(2 points) Current month's Money Shot (a special bonus achievement which will be announced every month) on completed oath
So as long as you complete your oath with username and Money Shot achievement, you can get 10 points every month!
There will be monthly drawings for completed oaths, as well as 1 extra point awarded by each of the 3 Judges (myself, pszito and CheatyFace) for anyone who we felt did particularly well on their Oath.
There will be quarterly (every 3 months) drawings for anyone who completed 3 consecutive Money Shots.
There will be drawings every 4 months for anyone who has painted a 50 point army during the course of the League! That is over time of course, not all in one month.
End of Season Bonuses
At the end of the year, you may earn the following points (1 point per achievement, and only 1 per participant):
Whelp!: First time oathing? You get a point! (Please state in your oath post)
Apprentice: 3 Oaths completed
Journeyman: 6 Oaths completed
Master: 9 Oaths completed
Grandmaster: All 12 Oaths completed!
One-time bonuses: These are worth 1 point apiece and can only be earned once per participant.
Speed-paint!: Post your oath complete! post complete with time-stamp picture within 24 hours of your initial oath.
Bannerman: Paint up a banner to make your warcaster proud!
Dramatic Pose: Take pictures of your models in interesting poses and tell a little story, whether it be a few paragraphs of prose or some funny word-bubbles.
Inventory: Tell us every tool and paint you used to bring the model to its shiny painted glory!
BATTUE!: Take some battleshots and post your painted model going toe-to-toe with the enemy
Double Trouble: Two Money Shots on the same model. You may not score this if you've already earned points for either of the Money Shots in previous months.
Studio Approved: Paint your model up to look like the box art.
The Gang's All Here!: Complete a minimum (or maximum if you prefer) unit in a single oath.
